The Acropolis Restoration Service (YSMA) participated in 2017 European Heritage Days (22-24/9). This year’s celebration had the special theme “Cities – Pol(e)is: old and new, small or large, major or less important, alive or forgotten”.
As part of this celebration, the YSMA Information and Education Office organized at the Acropolis archaeological site a special educational program entitled “The Acropolis in the life of ancient Athens”. Fifty students from the 2nd Gymnasium of Alimos, 3rd Gymnasium of Ag. Dimitrios and 5th Gymnasium of Glyfada attended the program, which took place on Friday, September 22th, 2017.
Students took a walk on the Acropolis, learned about the Acropolis through time and especially about the four greatest monuments in classical times. They focused on the role of the Acropolis during the Classical period not only in the religious life of citizens but also in their daily life.
